Maria Luisa Granados

August 25, 1939 — January 9, 2025

Eldorado

Born on August 25, 1939, in Dr. Arroyo, Nuevo León, Mexico, Maria Luisa Rodriguez was destined to be a waymaker. Her parents, Isidoro and Hermelinda (Montenegro) Rodriguez relocated to La Joya, Texas where Maria and her 12 siblings attended school. After graduating from the Class of 1959, Maria married Francisco Granados, Jr in Floydada, Texas on August 25th. Their love knew no limits. Together they raised seven children in their 65-year union.

Maria was a hands-on mother and was actively involved in her children’s lives. Her commitment was recognized when she was awarded Parent of the Year. She instilled a strong work ethic and unity of family. She was a mighty protector that seemed to strengthen with the coming generations of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her love for young people and devotion to their success reached beyond her family. She worked in the Migrant Education Program for the State of Texas, succeeding to the role of president, and making a way for migratory children to find success through education.

After the children were raised, she and Francisco relocated to Eldorado, Oklahoma where they had often taken vacations to visit family. Maria earned a degree from Cameron University. Not to sit idle for long, or let her servant’s heart for youth lay dormant, she taught Spanish and was the Librarian at Eldorado Public School from 1996 until the consolidation with Olustee in 2017.

Maria loved to work with her hands. She was an avid quilter and enjoyed embroidery work. She found solace in reading her Bible and was an active member of the Corinth Baptist Church. Maria adored her church family and was tremendously grateful for their love and support for her and her family. She stepped from this life into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at her home in Eldorado. She was 85 years young.

Her parents, Isidoro and Hermelinda; sons, Carlos Granados and Joaquin Granados; and grandson, Bryan Shuler preceded her in death. Those left to carry on Maria’s tenacious love are her husband, Francisco; children, Dee Canales, Juan Granados, Rebecca Kemp and husband, Brian, Martin Granados, Rosario Posado, Frank Granados and wife, Claudia, and Jose Luis Granados; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; five great great-grandchildren; four sisters; and an abundance of nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.

The family will greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Thursday, January 16th, at Kincannon Funeral Home in Altus. Services will be at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 17th, at the Corinth Baptist Church with Pastor Will Archer officiating. Burial will immediately follow at the Eldorado Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Online tributes may be made at www.kincannonfuneralhome.com.
