Maria Esperanza Roblez was born on September 17, 1962, in Georgetown, Texas to Cosme Roblez and Esperanza Guerrero. The family relocated to Altus where Maria was raised and attended school. Maria married her love, Seferino “Chico” Perez in Vernon, Texas on March 3, 1983, and to this union, her legacy was born, Diana Lee, Elizabeth, Linda, and Sandra. Her devotion to her family was unmatched. She carried on her wisdom and devotion to young people during her 19-year career as a cook at Sunset Elementary in the Altus School District. Maria enjoyed crafting and of course, cooking for her grandchildren and family. However, time spent with family was most treasured, especially playing Loteria, a game of chance similar to bingo, and playing Mexican music at the barn.
Her parents, Cosme and Esperanza; daughter, Diana Lee Spence; siblings, Domingo Roblez, Frank Roblez, Kathy Roblez, and Cookie Roblez; and granddaughter, Crystal Lee Greenidge preceded her in death. Those left to honor Maria’s memory are her devoted husband of 41 years, Chico; daughters, Elizabeth Perez of Altus, Linda Shimmin and husband, Doug of Blair, Sandra Reyes and husband, Hernan of Altus, and Lisa Garay; brothers, David Roblez and Cosmo Roblez; grandchildren, Liliana Chavez and husband Omar, Nelson Perez, Elena Shimmin, Marina Shimmin, Walter Greenidge, Isabella Greenidge, James Reyes, Nina Greenidge, Rosy Greenidge, Noah Shimmin, Joel Reyes, and Levi Reyes;
her brothers and sisters-in-law who held a special place in her heart, Maria Garay, Seferina Peña, Esperanza Gonzalez, Teresa Ortiz, Micaela Villaneuva, Arturo Perez, Abraham Perez, Ernesto Perez, and Alfonso Perez; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.
