Maria Pierce, 92, Altus, passed away Sunday, July 7, 2019 at Plantation Assisted Living in Altus. Graveside services have been scheduled for 10:00 AM, Friday, July 12, 2019 at the Restlawn Cemetery with Deacon Euliss Mobley officiating. Services have been entrusted to Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
Maria Joseph Pierce was born October 25, 1926 in Frankfurt, Germany. She graduated high school in Germany and later earned her Associates Degree from Western Oklahoma State College. Maria was a translator in Germany from 1945 to 1950 at the end of World War II for the United States Army. Maria and Owen Robert Pierce were united in marriage in 1951 in Rhien-Main, Germany and to this union two children were born. Owen preceded her in death in 1963. Maria worked at Kellwoods in Altus and then ran a teen club at the Altus Air Force Base for several years. She was a homemaker and enjoyed camping, school, gardening and working in her yard. Maria was of the Catholic faith and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Maria is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Owen; brothers, Albert Winkler and Sepple Winkler and her sister, Hildgard Hald.
She is survived by her daughter, Rhonda Lee Pierce; her son, Owen Pierce, II and wife, Diana; one grandson, Owen Pierce, III and wife, Dawn; two great-grandchildren, Kaylin Pierce and Kelsey Pierce; a brother, Wolfgand Winkler and wife, Edith; two nephews, Mike Gras and Uwe Winkler, and many friends.
