She had three siblings; an older sister, Jeanne; a younger sister, Lou; and the youngest child, a brother, Jack. Marie was 5 years old when her mother died, leaving her father with four young children to raise. Consequently, all the children were placed in foster homes while their father, Ray, moved to California to seek employment. Marie attended first grade through the sixth grade in Frederick. At age 11 Marie was placed with the Ralph and Corrie Phillips family in Olustee, Oklahoma. She attended school in Olustee, beginning with the seventh grade, participated in school plays and basketball, and graduated with the class of 1950. She married Ted Kincannon on May 21, 1950. To this union, three children were born - Gary, Beverly and Phyllis. Ted had worked in insurance and furniture sales during the early years. The Kincannon's moved back to Altus in the Summer of 1968 when Ted and Ed Wiginton partnered to establish Capri Home Furnishings. Marie continued her volunteer work with the Jackson County DHS to provide toys and clothing to children. She had always felt the need to help the foster children and the underprivileged children because of her experience as a foster child. Marie was active in the furniture business, completing a four year course at the Southwest Home Furnishings Interior Design School in Dallas, Texas. She had always enjoyed decorating at the store and for their clients.
