Mark D. Olson, 59, Altus, passed away Friday, February 28, 2020 in Altus. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, March 2, 2020 at the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Jim Hodges and Robert Jackson officiating. Burial will follow services at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
Mark Duane Olson was born November 2, 1960 in Fayetteville, North Carolina to Duane and Doris (Jacobson) Olson. He graduated from Red River High School in Grand Forks, North Dakota with the Class of 1979. Mark continued his education at Christ For The Nations Bible Institute in Dallas, Texas and was Pastor of the Grace New Life Fellowship for many years. He married Amalia Garcia November 20, 2001 in Altus, Oklahoma. Mark was active in several ministries including the Federation of Churches and Ministers International; the Oklahoma Apostolic Network and the Jackson County Ministerial Alliance. Mark had a heart for prison ministry working with Genesis 1 for over five years. He enjoyed his mission trips to Mexico and abroad; visiting with friends; golf; remodeling houses and time spent with his family.
Mark was preceded in death by his mother, Doris; his nephew, Davis Smaaland and a host of aunts and uncles. He is survived by his father, Duane Olson; his wife, Amalia; three sons, Thomas Olson and wife, Amber; Alberto Mendez and wife, Lorenia; Victor Mendez and wife, Paloma; one daughter, Maria Fernanda Newhardt and husband, Ryan; three grandchildren, Eva Olson, Albertito Mendez and Alvarito Mendez; two sisters, Deanne Clayborn and husband, Clay; Karen Smaaland and husband, Larry; brother, Jonathan Olson; nieces and nephews, Lonny Ivey; Sarah Woods and husband, Brian; Jesse Smaaland and wife, Ashton; Brandon Olson and Michael Olson; Amber Barton and husband, Dennis; and a host of great nieces and nephews.
