Martha Adkins, 92, Altus, passed away Friday, April 26, 2019. Graveside services have been scheduled for 2:00 PM Monday, April, 29, 2019 at the Blair Cemetery with Rev. Doug Altom officiating. Burial will be under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
Martha Myrtle McElwee was born on December 18, 1926 to William M. and Jewell Lea (Hunter) McElwee in Chicota, Texas. She attended school in Blair. Martha was a caregiver and worked for the same nursing agency in Houston for twenty three years. She was a member of the Methodist Church, den mother, and loved to watch Keith Wiginton on television Martha enjoyed reading, studying history and antiques, most of all she loved her time spent with her family.
Martha is preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Mary Beth Ware, Kathryn Sue Lockridge, Nell Emerson and Wanda Hutchinson; two brothers, Scott D. McElwee and Wallace Malcolm McElwee; and a granddaughter, Faye Dawn Adkins.
She leaves behind daughter, Martha Ann Schoolcraft and husband, John; sons, Alan D. Adkins and wife, Lori, and Ricky M. Adkins; three sisters, Jean McCallay, Maxine Stover and Jeanene Williams; nine grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
