Mary Ruth Barnett, 82, Altus, passed away Monday, December 12, 2016 at her home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, December 16, 2016 at the Tamarack Road Church of Christ with Henry Holub officiating. Burial will follow services at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.
Mary Ruth Cooper was born February 10, 1934 in Cordell, Oklahoma to Wilbur and Zoe Ina (Curie) Cooper. She graduated from Cordell High School in 1952. She continued her education, taking business classes, at Southwestern State University at Weatherford, Oklahoma. She married Richard Charles Albright in 1953 and two children were born to this union, Ruth and Richard. Mr. Albright passed away in 1956. Mary and Richard E. Barnett were united in marriage in 1959 and two daughters, Patricia and Alice, were born to this union. Mary worked as a secretary in Cordell for a legal firm and then a tag agency for several years. The family moved to Altus in 1975 and Mary worked at Altus Air Force Base as Head Chef for the Officer's Club until her retirement in 1995. She was a member of the Tamarack Road Church of Christ and participated in their Silver Saints Group. Mary enjoyed gardening, fishing, cooking and spending time with her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husbands; son, Richard Charles Albright, III; and two brothers, Harold Cooper and Kenneth Cooper.
Mary is survived by her three daughters, Ruth Gray; Patricia Barnett and partner, Frank Wells; Alice Moore and husband, Robert; six grandchildren, Carl Albright, Eric Albright, Mary Zirkle, Cressa Alm, Chris Roland, and Chasity Roland; two great grandchildren, Skyler Roland and Tommy Alm; a sister, Betty Cummins and many friends.
