Mary Magdalene Copeland

Mary Magdalene Copeland, 71, Altus, passed away in Lawton, Oklahoma, on Thursday, October 20, 2011. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM, Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Pastor Charlene Walker officiating. Burial will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home. Mary Magdalene Lidy was born on November 17, 1939 in Vernon, Texas to Neely and Lucille (Griffith) Lidy. Mary was a homemaker and belonged to the New Beginnings Gospel Church for 34 years. She was a lovely woman known for her cooking. Her greatest love was being with her family. She always had time and was known for keeping her grandkids in line. The family would want everyone to “miss her but let her go!” She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother, Neel Lidy, Jr., two sisters, May Jean Weaver and Oretha Moore, her stepmother, Emma Lou Walker; two grandsons and one great-granddaughter. Mary is survived by her stepmother, Annie B. Lidy of Frederick, OK; four daughters, Rebecca Miller of Altus, OK, Glenda Allen and husband, Henry, Jr., of Altus, OK, Schakemia King and husband, Michael, of Altus, OK, and Stephanie Smith of Altus, OK; one son, Earl Copeland of Altus, OK; 19 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; five brothers, Roy G. Lidy of Pampa, TX, Leonard Barber of Altus, OK, Ricky Lidy of Tipton, OK, Marcus Lidy of Oklahoma City, OK, George Lidy of Oklahoma City, OK; four sisters, Shonda and Yolanda Lidy, both of Vernon, TX, Dorothy Barber of Oklahoma City, OK and June Lidy of Pampa, TX; and a brother-in-law, R.L. Copeland and wife, Lucille, of Altus, OK. The Copeland family will greet friends from 6 to 8 PM, Tuesday, October 25, at the Kincannon Funeral Home.
