Mary Emma Meadville

February 9, 1926 — November 16, 2024

McAlester

Mary Emma Meadville, formerly of Duke, Oklahoma, departed from us after 98 years of a well-lived life, on Saturday, November 16, 2024, in McAlester. Services are scheduled for 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 23rd, at the Duke Church of Christ with Jack Moore officiating. Burial will immediately follow at the Prairie Hill Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.

Mary Emma entered this life on February 9, 1926. Born to Jesse Lee and Nettie (Hall) Ballard in Lugert, Mary Emma was one of eight children. She attended school in Duke. She married Peter Russell “Pete” Meadville on Friday, November 13, 1942, at the Elm and Hudson Church of Christ. She was a devoted wife and homemaker, raising their three children. Mary Emma and Pete shared 44 years together; 34 of those years were in California before his passing in 1987.

A self-proclaimed tomboy, growing up, Mary Emma loved playing outside with her brothers or jumping on a horse bareback for a ride. She loved sports of all kinds and especially enjoyed watching baseball and basketball games. She was a wonderful cook and never wanted anyone to go hungry. Her enchiladas, tacos, and chocolate and pecan pies were known and loved by all.

Her loving husband, Pete; parents, Jesse and Nettie; and siblings, Marie Walker, Monroe Ballard, Quint Ballard, JD Ballard, Lela Mae Martin, Curtis Ballard, and Lucille Sumrow preceded her in death.

Mary Emma’s memory will live on in her children, Ron Meadville and wife, Bobbi, Barbara Knapp, and Kathy Johns and husband, Eddie; grandchildren, Pete, Patrick, Jennifer, Holly, Levi, and Jarod; great-grandchildren, Chelsi, Madilyn, Aubrey, Landon, Lila, Eli, and Max; great great-grandchildren, Kaylynn, Rylee, and Amanda; and a host of nieces and nephews.
