Mary Imogene Thomas, 87, of Blair, Oklahoma, went to be with her Savior on Sunday, April 1, 2022. A memorial service will be 2:00 PM Friday, April 15, 2022 at the House of Prayer in Blair. Burial will be April 27, 2022 at 12:30 PM at the Bakersfield National Cemetery in California. Local arrangements are under the care of the Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
Mary Imogene Cherry was born on September 15, 1934 in Hughes County, Oklahoma to William Jennings and Ethel (Stanphill) Cherry. She graduated from Arvin High School in 1952. Mary married Earl Leon “Doc” Thomas on August 3, 1952 in Bakersfield, California. She worked as a bookkeeper and manager for two restaurants that she and Earl owned and operated, Jumbo Burger and A&W. Even though Doc did not win, she assisted in his election for Supervisor, and had many other roles that she assumed. Mary was a Christian. She had many hobbies including painting, creating porcelain dolls, crocheting, and quilting.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Leon; parents, William and Ethel; granddaughter, Sarah Helton; and two brothers, Daniel and Dave Cherry.
Mary is survived by her sons, Michael Earl “Mickey” Thomas and wife, Hillorie, Gregory Steven “Greg” and wife, Kathy, and Bobby Leon Thomas and wife, Trica; daughters, Karen Diane Helton and husband, Dennis; grandchildren, Josh Thomas, Jake Thomas and wife, Christine, Autumn Anderson and husband, Andy, Aubrey Eitland and husband, Ryan, Ashely Wandzell and husband, Mike, Amy Hagood and husband, Lewis, Jeremy Thomas and wife, Sarah, Mary Anne Dingler and husband, Kenny, Bobby Dale Thomas and wife, Kelly, Naomi Baker and husband, Ben, Nathan Thomas and wife, Jenifer, Ruth Taylor and husband, Robert, Melissa Jeffreys and husband, Peter, Kimberly McCoy and husband, Joel, Alicyn Helton, and Annaleah Helton; 50 great grandchildren; a sister, Charlene Taylor; an aunt, Elmarie McCoy; and other family members and friends.
