Merle Faye Cowett

Merle Faye Cowett, 89, Blair, passed away Thursday, May 12, 2011 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 14, 2011 at the Blair Cemetery with B.J. Armstrong officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home. Merle Faye was born August 5, 1921 to Joseph and Maletia (Thorton) Ross in Cookson, Oklahoma. She attended school in Cookson, OK. She married Herman Alfred Cowett on February 12, 1938 in Sequoyah County, Oklahoma. She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, cooking, reading Louis L’Amour books, and loved spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two daughters, Crystal Cowett and Wanda Hazzard; and two sons, Herman Cowett, Jr. and Leonard Dewayne Cowett. Mrs. Cowett is survived by seven daughters, Beatrice Boyd and husband, Bill, of Gore, OK, Darlene McConnell of Vian, OK, Allene Hebensperger and husband, John, of Hobart, OK, Thelma Wohl and husband, Richard, of Blair, OK, Kathy Halcomb and husband, Bart, of Blair, OK, Freda Buckner and husband, Lonnie, of Blair, OK, and Linda Cowett of Blair, OK; one son, R. B. Cowett of Vian, OK; twenty – seven grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
