Micheal Thomas "Smitty" Smith, 63, passed away April 15, 2016, at his home in Altus, Oklahoma. Memorial services have been scheduled for 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 23, 2016 at the Kincannon Funeral Home with Robert Bowers officiating.
Smitty was born September 8, 1952 to Thomas and Dorothy (Jochims) Smith in Baraboo, Wisconsin. He was raised and attended school in the Tama, Iowa area. Smitty enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1971 and proudly served his country for 8 years. He and Donna J. Pigg were united in marriage at the Thomas Street Church of Christ in Altus on January 3, 1976. For 36 years, Smitty worked at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Lawton Oklahoma as a professional mechanic. Smitty was of the Christian faith and enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. A superb marksman, he regularly competed in trap shooting competitions and was inducted into the Oklahoma Trap Shooters Hall of Fame. Smitty's interests included bowling, firearms, watching Western movies, hunting, and decorating the house for each holiday. He was also an ardent OU fan.
Smitty is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Kenny.
He is survived by his wife, Donna; daughters, Heather Norton and husband, Sean, and Jennifer Smith; grandchildren, Ethan Brunner, Emma Norton and Connor Norton; sisters, Rosie Lacina and husband Jim, and Mary Timm and husband Ron, of Tama, Iowa, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
