Michel Louis Winters

Michel Louis Winters, age 76, passed away peacefully at his home in Lawton, Oklahoma on October 21, 2024. Services will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 26th in the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Pastor Daniel Ingram officiating. Burial will immediately follow at the Warren Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.

Born on May 31, 1948, in Granite, Oklahoma, Michel was the youngest of five children born to Jay and Bernice (Preslar) Winters. He was raised in SW Oklahoma with three older brothers, Lorin, Burl, and Gary, along with an older sister, Margaret. The family combined their efforts and worked very hard for many years in the farm fields, pulling cotton bolls and chopping cotton to support the family. Michel graduated from Altus High School and pursued a career as an electrician, a path that took him to various states across the country. Eventually, he settled in Lawton to be closer to his children and grandchildren. In later years, he transitioned into home remodeling, a venture he enjoyed immensely. He cherished the time spent with his brother, Lorin, working together to buy and remodel houses in the Lawton area.

A man of many passions, Michel loved to cook, fish, and watch western movies. His heart was particularly fond of his Rottweiler dogs, and he was overjoyed to welcome a new litter of puppies just two days before his passing. Michel's vibrant personality and gift of gab sparked many conversations at family reunions and Thanksgiving dinners, where he enjoyed catching up with loved ones and sharing stories of life's events.

Michel is survived by his six children, Jimmy Saxton, Bridgette Woodress, Tasha Viruet, Mikel Freeman, Shawn Winters, and Joshua Winters. He also leaves behind nine grandchildren, Alexis, Roberto, Tony, Keira, Ivy, Cash, Aiden, Brooke, and Brynne; two great-grandchildren; three older brothers, Lorin Winters, Burl Winters, and Gary Winters; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends - each that will miss him dearly. Michel was preceded in death by his parents, Jay and Bernice Winters; and his sister, Margaret Winters Hoffman.
