Mildred Lorraine Cotton, 67, of Altus, passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2011 in Dallas, Texas. Services for the Cotton family will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, October 14, 2011, at the Kincannon Funeral Home. Lorraine was born on May 23, 1944 to Eddie Albert and Viola Mae (Stinley) Reed at Carnegie, Oklahoma. After graduating from Altus High School in 1962 she received her Secretarial Science degree at Southwestern State College in Weatherford, OK. She retired in 1998 after thirty-four years in telecommunications with Southwestern Bell, AT&T, Lucent and AVAYA. She was a thirteen year member of Laureate PSI Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi sorority. She obtained a Preceptor Degree and was past President, Recording Secretary and Woman of the Year. She was a member of the United Methodist Church. Lorraine loved spending her time reading and shopping. Lorraine is preceded in death by her father, Eddie Albert Reed, a brother, Tommie Charles Reed, and a nephew, Kyle DeWayne Reed. She is survived by two sons, David Wayne Cotton and wife, Christina, of Houston, TX, and Dennis Wayne Cotton and wife, Kristin, of Mansfield, TX; four grandchildren, Chase, Sidney, Molly and Chloe Mae; her mother, Viola Mae Reed of Altus, OK; two brothers, Eddie A. Reed, Jr. and wife, Pamela, of Plano, TX and Leroy DeWayne Reed of Altus, OK; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. In lieu of flowers the Cotton family suggests memorials be made in Lorraine’s name to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation at http://omrf.org/gifts or the charity of the donor’s choice.
