Myrtle Mae Hey, 87, former Wanette resident of Blair, OK, passed away at her home on Tuesday, February 4, 2014. Local funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 am Friday, February 7th, at the Blair First Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Mitchell and Erin Martinez officiating. Local services are under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home in Altus, OK. There will be a Rosary held at 7:00 pm, Friday, February 7, 2014 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Wanette, OK. A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Hey will be held 2:00 pm, Saturday, February 8, 2014 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Adrian Vorderlandwehr officiating. Burial will follow in the Wanette Cemetery under the direction of the Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell, OK. Myrtle Mae Charlton was born on November 6, 1926 to Corbett Ray and Ruby May (Garrett) Charlton, in Cogar, Oklahoma. She attended school at the Timber Ridge School near Cogar, OK. Myrtle and Lawrence Marion Hey were united in marriage October 17, 1953 in Oklahoma City, OK at the Sacred Heart Church. She was a mother, homemaker and a beloved cafeteria worker at Capitol Hill High School in Oklahoma City for many years. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association as well as the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Wanette. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking, gardening, sewing, canning, and doing word search puzzles. Myrtle’s all time favorite pastime was spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her parents and a brother, Cecil Charlton, preceded her in death. Myrtle is survived by her husband, Lawrence, of the home; a daughter, Karen Hey-Downing of Blair, OK; two sons, Larry Hey and wife, Davetta, of Newcastle, OK and Robert Hey and wife, Sherri, of Blair, OK; eleven grandchildren, Brian Downing and wife, Sabor, Matt Downing and wife, Amanda, Justin Downing and wife, Michelle, Stephanie Hey and Fiance Michael Tachell, Dustin Hey, Steven Hey and wife, Derenda, Brandon Hey and wife, Molly, Jeremy Hey and wife, Brittany, Breawna Hey, Austin Hey, and Rick Mullendore; 13 great-grandchildren with another one on the way; two brothers, Walter Charlton and Conn Charlton and wife, Nancy; two sisters, Alma Anthony and Ruth Hall; and a sister-in-law, Lorraine Childers and husband, Roy. She also leaves behind many life-long friends and precious family members. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
