Naomi Elizabeth (Walker) Tripp, 95, Blair, passed away on August 1, 2012 at her home. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, August 4, 2012 at the Blair First Baptist Church with Rev. Doug Altom officiating. Burial will follow in the Blair Cemetery under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home. Naomi Elizabeth (Walker) Tripp was born September 23, 1916 to Scott Irvin and Drusilla (Tatum) Walker in Blair, Oklahoma. She graduated from Blair High School in 1933 and continued her education at Chickasha at Oklahoma College for Women. She met (William) Bill Tripp while working for her brother, Eston, at his drug store in Frederick. She and Bill were united in marriage December 24, 1938 in Frederick. Shortly after their marriage, they moved back to Bill’s home place in Tennessee. They later moved to Blair, where they farmed until 1956, at which time they opened the Blair Laundry. After several years, they sold the laundry. She worked as a clerk at Knox Hardware and Blair Food Market, then as a teacher’s aide in the Blair School. Bill ran a service business until he was appointed Postmaster at the Blair Post Office in 1968, where he remained until his retirement. Following retirement, they spent many happy years together, but those happy years were cut short by an automobile accident which took his life in 1991. Naomi and Wyn Nelle (Ward) McMillin both were saved at a revival meeting in 1929. They were the oldest members of the Blair First Baptist Church. Wyn Nelle now holds that record. Naomi served in many capacities in the church. She served as Sunday School teacher for many years and enjoyed singing in the choir. Naomi enjoyed cooking, quilting, crafts and giving of herself to her family and many friends. She loved people. Her greatest joy was being able to send cards to everyone she knew on all occasions. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, three brothers, two sisters, and her husband, Bill. She is survived by one daughter, Annette Rowe and husband, Dale, of Frederick, Oklahoma; two sons, Newton Tripp and wife, Sandy, of Dumas, Texas, and Robert Tripp and wife, Janey, of Blair, Oklahoma; ten grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, and many friends and relatives. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:30 PM on Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Blair Cemetery Fund or to the Blair First Baptist Church.
