Nelda Lou Johnson, 94, Altus, passed away on Tuesday, May 4, 2021. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 8, 2021 at the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Lynn Rudd officiating. Burial will follow services in the Olustee Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
Nelda Lou Crawford was born July 28, 1926 in Olustee, Oklahoma to Roy and Mildred (Motheral) Crawford. She graduated from Harmony School with the Class of 1944. Nelda moved to Wichita Falls, Texas and attended business school. While there she met the love of her life, Howard Estes Johnson. They married on October 12, 1946. Nelda was a loving wife, mother of four boys and homemaker who also enjoyed quilting, puzzles, and working in her flower beds. She was a long-time member of the Elmer Methodist Church and accompanied her husband, Howard, on church singing events as he was the church song leader.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons, Royce and Gene Johnson; sister and brother-in-law, Lorayne and Forrest Drury; sister-in-law, Georgia Ruth; and brother-in-law, Claude Draper.
Nelda is survived by her two sons, David Johnson and Kenneth Johnson and wife, Barbara; six grandchildren, Kyle Johnson and wife Sara, Darrell Johnson and wife, Elizabeth, Colby Johnson, Geoff Johnson and wife, Michelle, Thomas Johnson and William Johnson; nine great grandchildren, Alex, Catherine, Jack, Joy, Jaelee, Branden, Zach, Ava and Sam; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
