Nola Hale, 94, Altus, passed away Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Memorial services are scheduled for 10:00 AM, Friday, October 1, 2010 in the lobby of the English Village Manor Nursing Home under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home. Nola Mae Hale was born on January 29th, 1916 in Red River County, Texas to Luther and Elsie (Rhodes) Hale. She had one sister and one brother. Her family moved to Altus when Nola was very young, she attended and graduated from Altus School. At the young age of 18, Nola and a friend decided they would go to California. There she worked as a waitress, she later moved to Reno where she worked as a change girl, later moving to a cashier, which she enjoyed greatly. She worked as a “riveter” for Lockheed aircraft. Her co-workers called her “Rosie the Riveter.” Nola moved to English Village Manor in 2002. She enjoyed living there, saying “everyone is so nice to me”. She enjoys taking her dog “Taco” out for fresh air and sunshine. She likes to play Bingo and remembers herself as a very good basketball player. She is survived by her sister; Alma Smith of Parker, AZ, and several nieces and nephews whom she spoiled and loved dearly.
