Norma Gail Johnston

Norma Gail Johnston, 82, of Olustee, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2025. Norma was born on a cold Christmas morning in 1942 to Odell and Mandy Marie Gressett in Childress, Texas. Norma was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who dedicated her life to helping others.

Norma married the late William Robert ‘Bob’ Johnston on June 21, 1961, in Eldorado, Oklahoma. Together they built a loving family grounded in faith, kindness and music. She was a longtime member of the Church of Christ and a graduate of Childress High School in Texas.

She worked as a home health aide, offering care and compassion to those in need. Norma’s greatest joy was her family. She loved bluegrass music, watching The Andy Griffith Show and Gunsmoke, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She had a heart for service and always put others first. Norma’s legacy of love, faith, and music will live on through the many lives she touched. She was brutally honest but always in a loving nature. She always told the truth, even when it wasn’t easy. She will be deeply missed.

Norma is survived by her children, Kim Frein and husband, John, Robert Johnston and wife, Amy, David Johnston and partner Christy; grandchildren, Matt, Calvin, Mollie, Analaya, Abbie, Sissiley, Mandy, Gabby (Jamie), Morgan, Marcus, Micah, Jordan, and Samantha; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Bob; two brothers; and one sister.

The family will greet friends from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM on Monday, April 21st before 2:00 PM services in the Kincannon Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at the Eldorado Cemetery.
