Ora Guy Thompson, 82, Altus, passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2020 at his home. Graveside services with military honors will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, July 29, 2020 in the Altus City Cemetery with Andrew Warnes officiating. Burial is under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
Ora “Guy” Thompson was born on February 21, 1938 in Friendship, Oklahoma to Ora G. and Grace (Grose) Thompson. Guy attended Altus High School and joined the US Navy in 1956, retiring after 22 years of service. He spend 2 ½ years in Vietnam during the war and was awarded numerous medals for that duty. He returned to Oklahoma in 1972 and retired in 1976 as a Senior Chief Petty Officer. Guy then started Thompson Trucking in 1978. He retired from trucking in 1999.
Guy married Beverly Kunemund in Stuttgart, Germany on May 12, 1972, who survives him. Other survivors include his sons, Danny Thompson (Angela) of Altus, OK and Guy Thompson of Memphis, TN; seven grandchildren, Angie Marple (Kevin), Grady Thompson (Kristin), both of Altus, Parker Cornett (Jett) of Edmond, OK, Philip Thompson of Southhaven, MS, Daniel Thompson of Memphis, TN, Zachary Thompson (Chantel) of Mesa, AZ, and Brittany Hand (Cal) of Yukon, OK; nephews, Eddie Williamson (Kristi) of Altus, OK and Ed Maxwell of Lexington, AL; nieces, Jan Dixon of Lexington, AL, Carol Faver of Anton, TX, Evone Oliver of Ransom Canyon, TX, Kathy Conley of Bradenton, FL and Bonnie Morris and Cindy Jordan, both of Lubbock, TX; sister-in-law, Evelyn Amerman of Sarasota, FL; numerous great grandchildren and a special family friend, Iris Felix.
Guy was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Carl Thompson, sisters, Glenna Stubblefield, Betty Maxwell and Patsy Williamson, nephews, Carl Thompson, Jerry Maxwell and Jimmy Williamson, and a niece, Debbie Williamson.
