Orval Lloyd Tyson, 66, Altus, passed away on Saturday, December 5, 2015 in the Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Services will be 3:00 PM Friday, December 11, 2015 in the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Rev. Donald Altom officiating. Burial will follow in the Blair Cemetery under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home.
Orval was born on January 6, 1949 in Wellington, Texas to Lois and Lois (Turner) Tyson. He served 23 years in the US Navy and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. After his retirement from the Navy, Orval worked as a truck driver for more than 10 years, where he trained other employees to drive trucks. The "Pokie Okie" was his handle. Orval was a member of the Wellington Church of Christ and he was the owner of O.L.'s Garage, working on small engines. He was an avid fisherman and an accomplished songwriter and musician.
His parents and a son, Clayton Tyson, preceded him in death.
Survivors include four daughters, Joannie Tyson, Cynthia Tyson, Rebecca Tyson and Virginia Gustke and husband, Matt; two sons, Brandon Graumann and Michael Tyson and wife, Loren; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and two brothers, Mark and Calvin Tyson.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 7:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
