Patricia Virginia Smith Graham, 75, of Altus, OK, passed away at her home Thursday morning, November 22, 2012. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, November 29, 2012 at First United Methodist Church with David Player officiating. Burial will follow at Sentinel Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home. Patricia was born January 17, 1937 in Sentinel, Oklahoma to Fred and Gertrude (Harmon) Smith. She was the sixth child of this union. She attended elementary in Sentinel, OK and her secondary years in the Port Consolidated School, where she graduated with the class of l955. She sang with the schools girl’s quartet and played softball and basketball while attending the Port School. She scored 45 points in one game her senior year, which was a record for the school. She was a member of the Sentinel Baptist Church. On June 1, 1955, she married Carroll Nelson Graham in the Sentinel Baptist Church and moved to Hobart, OK where Carroll was coaching and teaching. In 1957, their first child was born, Mickey Dale Graham, who is a professor of history at Western Oklahoma State College in Altus, OK. In 1960, she and her family moved to Clovis, NM where Carroll took a coaching job at Clovis High School. In 1962, Pat presented the family with their second child, Randy Scott Graham, who is in the construction business in Garland, TX. The family became members of Christian Church of Clovis. Pat obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from Eastern New Mexico University and a Masters degree in Library Science. She has taught in three states, New Mexico, Texas, and Oklahoma. After Carroll retired from teaching in 1990 the family moved back to Altus, Oklahoma to be near their grand-kids. Pat’s last teaching assignment was with the Altus Public School System. Pat retired in 2000 after teaching a total of 27 years. She loved being the librarian and helping students with research. Pat enjoyed her hobbies of playing bridge, reading, and watching movies on TV. She loved being near her grand-kids and spending time with them. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Altus, OK. Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Gertrude Smith; two brothers, Junior and Bobby. She is survived by her husband, Carroll, of 57 years; two sons, Mickey Graham and wife, Gayla of Altus, OK, and Randy Graham and wife, Debbie, of Garland, TX; four granddaughters, Amanda, Tessa, Katey, and Carley; two great-grandsons, Caiden and Mason; three sisters, Betty Adkins, Colleen Kemp, Freda Holmes; two brothers, Jerry Smith and Buddy Smith. The Graham family will greet friends Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Kincannon funeral Home.
