Patrick J. Schnur, 74, Altus, passed away at his home with his family by his side. The family has chosen inurnment at the Ft. Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, Oklahoma, with United States Navy military honors to be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 6, 2022.

Patrick John “Pat” Schnur was born on August 4, 1947 in Chicago, Illinois to Allen Joseph and Odetta Faye (Garrett) Schnur, II. He attended school in Chicago and joined the United States Navy as soon as possible. His miliary service included a tour to Vietnam where he was highly decorated. Following his honorable discharge as Seaman, Storekeeper Striker in 1968 Pat transferred to the Naval Reserve. He pursued a civilian career as a meat cutter. Using those skills, Pat then worked in Civil Service as a meat manager in government commissaries before retiring from Altus Air Force Base. Pat married Dorothy Stinnett on March 5, 1990 in Houston Texas. He enjoyed playing pinochle and watching NFL football, especially the 49ers.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and two sisters.

Pat is survived by his wife, Dorothy; daughter, Laura Blackford and husband, Jerrad; stepsons, Cecil Roudebush and Emmett Stinnett and wife, Cindy; seven grandchildren, Jenna and James Blackford, Daniel, Brett and Nathaniel Stinnett, and Stefany and Ricky Bird.
