Altus

Patsy Adell (Falk) “Pat” Duckworth was born on September 3, 1937, in Hinton, Oklahoma, to Frank and Ruby Falk. She attended Hinton grade school until third grade, and after moving to Wellington, Texas she graduated from Wellington High School. She continued her education at Bethany Nazarene College, earning a Bachelor of Music Education degree and later earned a Master of Education in Music degree from Southwestern Oklahoma State University. While attending Betheny Nazarene College Pat was awarded the Music Assistantship and served as secretary for the Music Department. She also served as president of the College Music Educators Organization, was elected Outstanding Women’s Choir Member, and was a member of the Acapella Choir.

Pat taught vocal music on all three grade levels at Mangum Public Schools from 1967 until 1992. She was given the honor of Teacher of the Year in 1977, as well as 1992. Other awards she received was the Americanism Award from the American Legion and Teacher of Today from the Masonic Lodge. In 2018, she was inducted into the Mangum Education Foundation Hall of Fame for her service as an educator, her outstanding educational musical programs, and dedication to others.

Pat met the love of her life, Billy Ray “Bill” Duckworth, and they were united in marriage on June 5, 1982, in Altus. Her hobbies included painting, sewing, cross-stitching, scrapbooking, and she especially enjoyed sharing woodwork projects together with her husband as evidenced by the things made for their home and gifts created for their family, friends, and church.

She was a long-time member of the Church of the Nazarene, first in Wellington and later in Altus. Pat served as an organist and pianist since 1981, in the Altus church, director of Women’s Ministries, and as a member and secretary of the church board for thirty years. She directed choir cantatas and children’s musicals. Pat and Bill received the Distinguished Service Award twice from the Nazarene Church. Pat passed away peacefully on Monday, July 1, 2024.

Pat was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Bill; and her parents, Frank and Ruby. She is survived by and leaves many wonderful and special memories with her son, Kevin Duckworth; daughter, Kathi Duckworth English and husband, Steven; granddaughters, Katelynn Rangel and Autumn Morris and husband, Stewart; great-grandson, Skyeler Pitchford; great-granddaughters, Alexzandria Rangel and Victoria Rangel; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
