Paul Ray Lawson went to be with the Lord on August 14, 2024. Born on November 13, 1951, in Lawton, Oklahoma, to Tony Lawson III and Betty Jo (Williamson) Lawson.
Paul Ray spent his formative years in East Orange, New Jersey, where he graduated high school before continuing his education at Essex County Community College. It was in Newark, New Jersey, that he married his former wife, Patricia High, on March 24, 1973. Together they raised two wonderful children, Pia Rae and Paul Jarrell, creating a lifetime of memories.
He dedicated most of his career as a computer programmer. Beyond Paul Ray’s professional life, he was a devoted member of the Altus Church of Christ, where his faith was a testament to his life. He had a passion for writing and published “ The Lord God Almighty Attributes.” His love for biblical studies were well known to those close to him. Music brought Paul Ray great joy, mostly gospel and R&B. A past time favorite was watching basketball and football. He cherished the time he spent with his friends and family, often sharing his love for life and faith with them.
Paul Ray, third son, eighth child, is preceded in death by his parents, Betty Jo and Tony III; and other family members, Tony Lawson IV, Armisce Hammer, Stoney Lawson, Erma Jean Clarke, and Aretha Brown.
Left to cherish Paul Ray’s memories are his children, Paul Jarrell Lawson and Pia Rae Lawson; siblings, Betty Jean Cervera, Pearl Menefee, Luke Lawson, and Titus Lawson; granddaughter, Journi Lawson; as well as a host of family and friends.
Funeral services will be held, Friday, August 23, 2024, at 10:00AM in the Kincannon Memorial Chapel, followed by a graveside service at Highland Park Cemetery in Lawton, OK.
The family of Paul Ray Lawson would like to acknowledge with grateful appreciation for all the prayers, thoughts, texts, calls and acts of kindness during this time of bereavement.
