Pearl Marie Brown

Pearl Marie Brown, 80, Altus, passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Monday, January 12, 2015 at the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Rev. Jason Duree officiating. Services are under the care of the Kincannon Funeral Home. Pearl Marie Palmateer was born on June 24, 1934 in Friona, Texas to Ralph and Della Palmateer. She married Les Brown, Sr. in Portales, New Mexico on February 28, 1953. Pearl worked as a homemaker all of her life and enjoyed listening to country and gospel music, displaying pictures of her family, playing canasta, cooking, and growing plants. She especially loved her family gatherings and her dog, Dancer. Pearl was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed listening to the broadcast of the First Baptist Church in Altus. Her husband, father, Ralph Palmateer, mother and stepfather, Travis and Della Light, and a brother, Ralph “Bub” Palmateer, preceded her in death. Survivors include four daughters, Delonna Smalts of Del City, OK, Carmela Walker and husband, Dennis, of Lexington, TX, Rhonda Nelson and husband, Dan, of Hydro, OK and Julia Hayes and wife, Stacy, of Gilbert, AZ; two sons, Les Brown, Jr. and wife, Josie, and Jessie Brown and wife, Terri, all of Altus, OK; 13 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild on the way; a sister, Alice Baker of Las Vegas, NV; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Additional parking for the service is available behind the funeral home, Best Western to the South or Western Sizzlin’ to the North.
