Pedro L. “Pete” Castillo, Sr., 74, of Altus, OK, passed away on Friday, October 28, 2011 at his home. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Father Sundar officiating. Interment will follow at the Olustee Cemetery under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home.
Pedro was born on October 12, 1937 in Buda, Texas to Sabino and Josepha (Lopez) Castillo, Sr. He attended school in Kyle, Texas. Pedro was a migrant worker in Texas before moving to Altus when he was 18. He was a plumber and started the company, Castillo Plumbing, in 1964, and turned it into the successful business it has become today. He married Sylvia Garcia on October 26, 1970 in Vernon, Texas. He was a member of the Catholic Church and on the City of Altus Plumbing Board for eight years. He enjoyed NASCAR racing, fishing, and going to the casinos. He loved working to provide for his family and spending time with his family.
Mr. Castillo was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Raymond Castillo and Daniel Castillo, a sister, Josie Saldana, one son, Pedro Castillo, Jr., a daughter, Kathy Wiseman, and his father-in-law, Oscar Garcia.
He is survived by his wife, Sylvia, of the home; three daughters, Angela Tokarski and husband, Timothy, of Altus, OK, Julie Richardson of Altus, OK, Mary Mullican and husband, David, of Springdale, AR; three sons, Rick Castillo and wife, Bettye, of Altus, OK, John Castillo and wife, Cheryl, of Oklahoma City, OK, and Martin Castillo and wife, Tami, of Altus, OK; his mother-in- law, Guadalupe Garcia of Altus, OK; a sister, Janie Tristian of Menchaca, Texas; six brothers, Sabino Castillo, Jr. of Kyle, Texas, Guadalupe Castillo of Lockhart, Texas, Antonio Castillo of Austin, Texas, John Castillo of Kyle, Texas, Robert Castillo of Kyle, Texas, and Michael Castillo of Grand Prairie, Texas; sixteen grandchildren, Jennifer Smith, Brandon Wiseman, Spencer Anderson, Albany Richardson, Kymberlin Castillo, Trea Herring, Mikel Bush, Clay Castillo, Chase Castillo, Trace Tokarski, Mikayla Bush, Pedro E.J. Tokarski, Samantha Castillo, Allison Castillo, Ryleigh Mullican, and Ryan Mullican; three great-grandchildren, Cody Smith, Colby Smith and Paytton Herring; and numerous other family and friends.
The family will host a visitation for family and friends Sunday evening, October 30, 2011 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Kincannon Funeral Home.
