Peggy Alyene Payne

Peggy Alyene Payne, 62, Altus, passed away on Saturday, September 15, 2012 at her home. Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at the Altus City Cemetery with Rev. Kevin Baker officiating. Burial will be under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home. Peggy Alyene Surles was born on August 15, 1950 in Altus to George and Billie June (Hayhurst) Surles. She married Jimmy Ray Payne in Elmer, Oklahoma on December 19, 1969. She enjoyed playing on computers and slot machines and also liked watching movies. Her mother, husband, and her grandparents, Peggy “WaWa” and Wilburn “Cracker” Southwick, and J.D. and Ella Surles, preceded her in death. Survivors include two sons, Keith Payne and wife, Tisha, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Mark Payne and wife, Shanna, of Altus, Oklahoma; a granddaughter, Jacey Payne; her father, George Surles, of Altus, Oklahoma; a sister, Amanda Henning and husband, John, of Geuda Springs, Kansas; two brothers, George Surles, Jr. and wife, Franka, of Fritch, Texas, and Franklin Louis Surles of Altus, Oklahoma; and many other nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Monday at the funeral home.
