R. M. Choat, 72, Eldorado, formerly of Quanah, Texas, died Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at his home. Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, September 11, 2010 at the Quanah Baptist Church with Rev. Joseph Jones officiating. Cremation services were arranged through Kincannon Funeral Home in Altus, Oklahoma. R. M. Choat was born January 30, 1938 in Quanah, Texas to R L “Buster” and Claudine (Blalock) Choat. He graduated from Quanah High School in 1957. He married Karen Driver on August 10, 1962 in Quanah, Texas. He made and sold fish bait and live minnows. His bait was regarded as the “best around.” He enjoyed hunting, high school football, the Dallas Cowboys and “ solving world problems “ with his coffee drinking buddies in Quanah. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Roy. He is survived by his wife Karen of the home in Eldorado, OK; three sons, Zachary Choat and wife Molly of Georgetown, TX; Tony Choat and wife Michelle of Alvord, TX; Stacy Choat of Quanah, TX; one sister, Sharon Mote of Lortan, Virginia; nine grandchildren, Zane, Lindy, Tyler Colby, Zackary, Erica, Ashley, Adam and Siara; three great grandchildren, Gil Jr., Logan and Kasin; his many fishing customers and friends.
