Ramona Gail Filer, 68, Altus, passed away on Monday, September 18, 2017 in Lawton, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, September 23, 2017 in the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Pastor Dyke Crain officiating. Burial will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
Ramona Gail Hill was born on May 7, 1949 in Altus, Oklahoma to Charlie and Ivory (Govan) Hill. Ramona lost her Mother at the age of 4 and her Father at the age of 10. She was raised by her sisters and brothers in the Hollis, OK and Altus area. As a teen she attended Lincoln High School where she was a member of the Ladies Basketball team. She went on to marry Martin Filer on April 3, 1972 in Vernon Texas. They soon after moved to Galveston, Texas which would be her home until 2008, when she returned to Altus. She worked as a store manager for several stores and restaurants in Galveston including Sears, Family Dollar, Popeyes, Church's, and KFC. She enjoyed her family and friends, loved her Dallas Cowboys, and listening to her Blues with her shotglass. She will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 6 brothers: Larry Hill, Bobby Hill, Guy Paul Hill, Alfred Hill, Charles Hill, and William Turner, Sr. Also preceding her were 6 sisters: Jo Ann Hill, Charlsie-Mae Hill, Earline Austin, Shirley Jean Copeland, Larnetta McGee, her "Momma" Jeweline Hill and her dear friends Shirley "Moochie" Knox, Shirley Raiden and Patricia Thomas.
Survivors include four children, Christopher Hill (Sha) of Houston,Tx, Shelisa Hill, Terrence Filer (Safetha) and Shakeitha Robinson, all of Altus, OK; seven grandchildren, Aaliyah Bonner-Hill, Artivia Ellis, Marquelty Robinson, Michael Turner, Kaliff Hill, Davian Hill, and TaVarri Filer; four great-grandchildren, Carson Turner, Au'Nyla Hill, AuMiah Hill and Rashad Ellis. Also survived by many other family and friends, and her lifelong friends Mae Frances Jefferson and Bernadine Tolbert.
