Ramona F. Kentopp

Ramona Foutz Kentopp was born on March 9, 1951, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to Murray B. and Betty L. (Ross) Foutz. She was raised in the area alongside her siblings, Connie, Roxene, and Marla, and was a proud member of the Pueblo of Laguna. Ramona graduated from high school in Thoreau, New Mexico.

In 1979, while mining for uranium in Nose Rock for Phillips 66, Ramona met James M. “Jim” Kentopp, Sr. The two fell in love and married in Farmington on November 7, 1980. Their journey together took them across the country with Jim’s mining work, eventually settling in southwest Oklahoma.

Ramona was a devoted wife and a loving mother to their son, James Jr. She dedicated her time to volunteering with the Jackson County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, always eager to give back to her community. She was also a wonderful cook and enjoyed keeping up with current events.

Ramona passed away on the morning of Wednesday, March 19, 2025. She was preceded in death by her parents, Murray and Betty; and her sisters, Connie and Marla (Steve).

Her memory will be cherished by her husband of 44 years, Jim; her son, James Jr.; her sister, Roxene (Mike); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Ramona’s kindness, warmth, and generosity will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
