Randy Mack Marceleno

July 30, 1969 — May 16, 2024

Altus

Randy Mack Marceleno passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 16, 2024, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. A remembrance memorial will be held at Western Oklahoma State College on Monday, June 10, 2024, at 10:00 AM in the Pioneer Heritage Center.

Randy Mack Marceleno was born to Mack and Janie (Ortega) Marceleno in Wichita, Kansas on July 30, 1969. After his family relocated to Altus, Randy attended school at Altus and was active in the high school band until his graduation with the Class of 1988. Randy was an audiophile who loved all music. Even though he especially loved Pink Floyd and Iron Maiden, he could be found discussing intricate details of Tiësto, Slayer, The Cure, Metallica, Taylor Swift, and everyone in between. He spent many weekends watching concerts from around the globe, and had a large online following of friends that shared his passion for the art. He believed vinyl was the purest form of sound and maintained an impressive collection to showcase his love of music. He was also an avid fan of NASCAR, Thunder Basketball, New York Yankees, and WOSC sports.

Randy had many accolades throughout his working career, being recognized for his work ethic and dedication passed on through his family’s generations. He made an impression everywhere he worked, including his time at Safeway as cashier of the month, quarter, and eventually for the year, where he was awarded with a cruise to the Bahamas. He made friends and helped many people of Altus when he worked at Fox Building Supply and Express Pack & Ship. He was working at Western Oklahoma State College as the Lead Floor Tech, where he was recognized as an Outstanding Support Staff Recipient by the Oklahoma Association of Community Colleges.

Randy’s friends and co-workers held a very special place in his heart, and he would ask his family to pray for them when they went through rough patches. He had an infectious smile that would spread across a room of people as fast as it spread across his face.  He had a huge heart and strong love for his family.

Randy loved and cared for strangers, family, and friends alike. He spoiled his older sisters with gifts and his time. He enjoyed his “brothers only” breakfast. Western Sizzlin and Taqueria Hernandez will never be the same and neither will we.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Macario “Mack” and Juanita “Janie” Marceleno; by grandparents, Adolfo and Silbestra Ortega and Jesus and Placida Marceleno; and brother-in-law, Moses Perez. Those left to honor his memory are his sisters, Elaine Perez and Cynthia Duit and her husband, Paul. He left behind many aunts and uncles, cousins, and many, many friends.
