Raphiael "J.R." Duffey

Raphiael “J.R.” Duffey, 64, Altus, passed away Monday, January 31, 2011 at English Village Nursing Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, February 3, 2011 at Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Darrell Smalts officiating. Burial will follow in the Altus City Cemetery Veteran’s Section with military honors under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home. J.R. was born to Raphiael and Iva (Scott) Duffey on December 29, 1946 in Marshall, Missouri. He graduated from Pleasant Hill, Missouri High School. He enlisted in the United States Army in October of 1966 and served his country during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged from the service in October of 1968. J.R. was an electrician, working for Lorin Winters for about sixteen years. He was a member of the Altus Christian Fellowship Church as well a lifetime member of the VFW. J.R. enjoyed camping, boating, skiing, car racing and riding his Harley motorcycle. He loved the times he spent with his family at Lake Altus. J.R. is survived by his life partner of 18 years, Dora Howell; three daughters, Shelly Arce and husband Jose of Altus, OK; Clarissa Dash and husband Malcolm of Altus, OK; Tabitha Duffy of Missouri; two sons, James Howell and wife Chastity of Altus, OK; Steven Duffey of Missouri; two brothers, Charles and Craig Duffey, both of Missouri; one sister, Rebecca Duffey of Missouri, several grandchildren and many friends.
