Robert T. "Bob" Harris

Robert "Bob" Harris, 76, Altus, Oklahoma, passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Memorial services have been scheduled for 2:00 pm Thursday, May 10, 2018 at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Bill Carr officiating. Inurnment will take place in the Lawnview Cemetery in Cordell, Oklahoma for the family and close friends. Services and cremation were entrusted to the Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.

Robert "Bob" was born October 8, 1941 in Grass Valley, California to Milton E. and Ramona I. (Talboe) Harris. He graduated from high school in Loyalton, California, received an Associate Degree from Western Oklahoma State College and a Bachelors Degree from Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma. He served his country in the United States Air Force and retired as a Master Sergeant after twenty five years of service. His assignments included Clinton-Sherman AFB, Oklahoma (where he met Jenelle), Barksdale AFB, Louisiana, Goose Bay, Labrador, Altus AFB, Oklahoma, Anderson AFB, Guam, and Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio. While stationed at Clinton Sherman AFB he was assigned to temporary duty at U-Tapao AB, Thailand. Bob married Jenelle Akers on August 14, 1969 in Bossier City, Louisiana. After retiring from the Air Force, Bob attended college while working part-time at the Oklahoma Employment Office. From there he went to work for Civil Service at Altus AFB and worked there until his retirement in February of 2005. Bob was an Elder in the First Presbyterian Church, a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, where he was Service Officer for many years, and he was a 32nd degree Mason in the Masonic Lodge. Bob and Jenelle enjoyed bird watching which resulted in many trips to the West Coast, East Coast and points in between, exploring for new birds to add to their "life list." Also included in Bob's enjoyment was working in his yard.

His parents and a brother, Brent M. Harris, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Jenelle, stepchildren, Debbie Tupper of Clinton, OK and Dennis Glasscock and wife, Beverly of Ashburn, VA; two grandchildren, Brittany Roberts and husband, Bruce, of Edmond, OK and Andy Glasscock and wife, Korrin; and two great grandsons, Trip Roberts and Davin Glasscock.

Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 208 E. Cypress, Altus, OK 73521 or to the Disabled American Veterans, 101 E. Commerce St., Altus, OK 73521.
