Robert A. McClain, 61, passed away at his home in Altus on Thursday, July 27, 2017. Funeral services have been scheduled for 10:00 AM Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints with Bishop Matthew Wojnowski officiating. Burial with military honors will follow services at 2 p.m. at Fort Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, Oklahoma under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.
Robert was born on February 18, 1956 to William and Florence Martha (Thompson) McClain in Glendale, California. Robert and Rebecca Berniece Stigall were united in marriage in Riverside, California. He graduated from Palm Springs High School, Palm Springs, California with the class of 1974. Bob served his country in the United States Air Force as a KC-135 pilot and was honorably discharged in December of 1998 as Major. He continued his education while in the military and attained a Masters Degree in Aviation Management. Bob also worked at Altus Air Force Base Civil Service with the L3 Comm. Squadron as a Flight Simulator Instructor, where he was a member of the Mechanical Union. He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America for twenty eight years; served as a Scout Master for 9 years and participated in 34 Eagle Scout projects. Robert was a long time member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints; enjoyed flying, woodworking, and spending time with his church friends and family.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Kathryn Joy McClain; brother, Patrick Michael McClain; and grandmother, Muriel Margaret Peterson Thompson Torkelson.
He is survived by his wife, Rebecca, of the home; daughters, Muriel Xochimitl and husband, Jason; Amanda Valluri and husband, Raj; and Karissa Veirs and husband, John, Jr.; sons, Robert McClain, Jr. and wife, Erika; Michael McClain and wife, Emmelina; Timothy McClain and wife, Grace, and Joshua McClain; grandchildren, Kathryn, Sarah, Anna and Natalie Xochimitl; Hanna, Olivia, Valluri, Robert III, Silvia, Felicity and Maxwell McClain; and Matilda Veirs.
The McClain family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Monday at the funeral home.
