Roberta Jane Avant

Roberta Avant, 79, Altus, passed away Monday, October 16, 2017 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services have been scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, October 20, 2017 at the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Rev. C. W. Parker officiating. Burial will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.

Roberta Jane Avant was born on July 6, 1938 to Robert L. and Pauline (Rupe) Clay in Clinton, Oklahoma. She graduated from Cordell High School and married Floyd Avant on May 7, 1955 in Cordell, Oklahoma. To this union three children were born. Roberta was a homemaker and a member of the Southside Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and spending time with her family and friends.

Roberta is preceded in death by her parents and a sister-in-law, Mary Clay. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband, Floyd, of the home; daughter, Paula Bemis and husband, Jeff, of Anchorage, Alaska; sons, Jon Avant of Corn, Oklahoma and Rodney Avant and wife, Vicki, of Altus, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Jeremy Avant and Jacey Avant; two brothers, Robert Clay of Rohnert Park, California and Randy Clay and wife, Elaine, of Weatherford, Oklahoma; and many friends.

The Avant family will greet friends Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Kincannon Funeral Home
