Rodney Lee Smith, 64, Blair, died Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 18, 2015 at Kincannon Funeral Home with Rev. Keith Wiginton and Rev. George Brock officiating. Rod was born October 17, 1950 in Dallas, Texas to J.K. and Mae (Dearasaugh) Smith. He graduated from W.W. Samuel High School in 1969. He and Cindy Darr were married January 30, 1970 in Dallas, Texas. Rod continued his education at Dallas Baptist University, attaining a Bachelor of Arts in Music and Communication. He attended the Fort Worth Baptist Seminary. The Smith family moved to Altus, Oklahoma in 1981 where Rod served as the Minister of Music at First Baptist Church for over 32 years, retiring in 2013. He served as interim pastor for several local congregations during his retirement. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, spending time with Cindy, grandchildren and friends. Rod was preceded in death by his parents, JK and Mae Smith and a son, Benjamin Smith. He is survived by his wife, Cindy; daughter Natalie Hogan and husband Derek; daughter-in-law, Heidi Smith; grandchildren Tanner, Ella, Maddox, Gavin and Emmy and many dear friends. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice in memory of Rod Smith. Additional parking for the service is available behind the funeral home, Best Western to the South or Western Sizzlin’ to the North.
