Roney Dewel “Red” Roberson, Jr., 89, Altus, left his earthly home peacefully on Saturday, September 5, 2020 after suffering a stroke on June 1, 2020. Memorial services will be 2:00 PM Friday, September 18, 2020 at the Hess Cemetery. Inurnment will be under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
Roney “Red” was born on December 11, 1930, southwest of Altus, Oklahoma to Roney Dewel and Velma Emily (Rollins) Roberson. Red and Wanda Lee Mayo were united in marriage on July 15, 1950 in Jackson County, Oklahoma. To this union they were blessed with two daughters, Judith Arline and Wanda Darlene. Red proudly served his country with the United States Army from February 1951 - February 1953 and the Reserves until November 1956.
Red was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans.
Red and Wanda moved their family to California in 1953, where he supported his family as an auto mechanic and an auto body paint and repairman. After their daughters were grown, they returned home to Altus, Oklahoma in 1972, where Red farmed, and did tractor repair until his retirement.
Red leaves behind his loving wife, Wanda of the home; 2 daughters, Judy McCombs (Sam) of Altus, Oklahoma and Darlene Hylton (Al) of El Centro, California; 5 grandchildren, Teri Depoali (Les), Cheri Webb (Todd), James McCombs (Brandi), and Kyle McKee, all of Nevada, and Roney Roberson of Arizona; 10 great grandchildren, Sky Rousseau (Jake), Jeff McCombs (Chelsea), Samantha Webb, Leslynn Depoali, Jordan McCombs, Wade Webb, Austin Cadenhead, Lauryn Depoali and Laney Depoali, all of Nevada, and Joshua Roberson of Arizona; 3 great great grandchildren, Gracelynn Funes, Charles Rousseau and Jackson Rousseau, all of Nevada; 2 nieces, Terri Roberson and Jerri Stricker; a nephew, Carl “Bud” Roberson (Donna); along with numerous cousins and special friends.
He was preceded in death by his parent, R.D. “Dewel” and Velma Roberson, and his brother, George “Buddy” Roberson.
