Roy Lawrence Durall, 91, of Altus, OK passed away Friday morning, May 3, 2013, at his home. Memorial services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Sunday, May 5, 2013 at Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Doug Altom officiating. Cremation services are under the care of the Kincannon Funeral Home. Roy was born on March 26, 1922 in Henryetta, Oklahoma to Ira James and Julia Margaret (Gillespie) Durall. He graduated from high school. Roy married Clara B. Stringer on October 19, 1941 in Lyons, Kansas. They were married for seventy-one years. He enlisted in the Army and served in the 78th Infantry Division during WWII. He later transferred to the United States Air Force Reserves. Roy worked as a civil service firefighter at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO for twenty-eight years until his retirement. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Altus, OK. He enjoyed guns, hunting, fishing, painting, and taking care of his wife. Mr. Durall was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Sean Hergert, four siblings, Farrell, Neal, Ben, Naomi, and a stepfather, Ernie Manwarren. He is survived by his wife, Clara, of the home; two daughters, Donna Marie Teague and husband, Sam, of Mesa, AZ, Gwenda Lynn Valentine and husband, Larry, of Colorado Springs, CO; one son, Ronald Ira Durall and wife, Ruth, of Blair, OK; one sister, Nelda Gray and husband, Byron, of Lyons, KS; four grandchildren, Ty and wife, Kim Valentine, and Jay and wife Anna Valentine, Melissa and husband Sam Rhodd, and Scott Durall; and four great-grandchildren, Riley, Peyton, Sophia, and Wesley Valentine.
