Samuel Eugene McCombs

On July 5, 2024, Samuel Eugene “Sam” McCombs passed away peacefully in the comfort of his recliner, at home surrounded by his wife and family, listening to his show, Daniel Boone in the background. Sam was born on February 17, 1938, in Ogdensburg, New York to Clyde Eugene and Doris Harriet (Conant) McCombs. After graduating high school from Hermon DeKalb Central School Sam served his country in the United States Air Force. Upon completion of his duty, he settled in Reno, Nevada. Sam worked as a slot machine mechanic at the Cal Neva Casino before joining Iron Workers Union Local 118. He worked structural steel and some rod busting until his retirement. Sam moved to Altus, Oklahoma in 2009. 

Sam was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Doris; and sister, Barbara. He is survived by his wife and the love of his life, Judy; their three children, Teri Depoali (Les), Cheri Webb (Todd), and James McCombs (Brandi); nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren plus two on the way.

As Sam said, “I had a good life, but together we had a great life.” Family is everything.
