Sandra J. James, 74, Altus, passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 11, 2023 in the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Rev. Doug Altom officiating. Burial will follow services at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
Sandra Joy McInnis was born December 23, 1948 in Wellington, Texas to Alvin D. “Mac” and Helen (Adkins) McInnis. She graduated from Clayton High School, Clayton, New Mexico, with the Class of 1966 and continued her education at West Texas State University. Sandra married Cliff Osburg on May 28, 1968 in Clayton, New Mexico, and to this union one daughter and one son were born. The family moved to Altus in 1990. She began her career as an Encumbrance Clerk at Southwest Tech. Having worked there for seventeen years, she continued to train new staff, fill in at the front office, and substitute teach for the next four years. After retirement, Sandra continued to serve on the SWTC Foundation Board. While she was working full time at SWTC, she transcribed medical records for Dr. Villazon in the evenings.
She married Ernie James on September 28, 1995 in Altus, and he predeceased her on May 16, 2021. Through this marriage, she was welcomed into his family by Ernie’s children, Jimmy James and Penny James Squires. Sandra has been a member of the First Baptist Church for many years. She enjoyed playing bridge, OSU athletics, RV camping with her parents, and putting puzzles together. She always looked forward to making cupcakes and supporting the OSU Alumni for the annual “A Night With OSU”. Even though they never lived in the same town, Nana enjoyed cheering on her grandchildren in all their sporting activities.
Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, Mac and Helen McInnis; and her husband, Ernie James. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Stotler and husband, Wesley; her son, Bradley Osburg; her four grandchildren, Zackary and Lauren Stotler, and Avery and Emma Osburg; and many friends.
The Sandra James family will greet friends Friday evening from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to SWTC Foundation Board at 711 W. Tamarack, Altus, OK 73521.
