Shirley Ann Brown, 83, of Altus, Oklahoma, passed away on Monday, October 5, 2020 in Norman, Oklahoma. Graveside services will be 10:30 AM Saturday, October 31, 2020 in the Ulysses Cemetery, Ulysses, Kansas, with Warren Baldwin officiating. Burial will be under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service and Garnand Funeral Home.
Shirley Ann Michaelis was born on November 13, 1936 in Russell, Kansas to Leo and Alma (Waymaster) Michaelis. She graduated from Hoisington High School and pursued a master’s degree in education from Fort Hays State University. Shirley was an elementary school teacher for over three decades before retiring.
Shirley married William “Bill” Harrison Brown on May 26, 1957. They lived in Russell before moving to Ulysses in 1971, where they were active in education and church work. Shirley loved watching her Jayhawks, Royals, Thunder and Chiefs. Spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren was what she cherished most.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one brother, Larry Michaelis.
Survivors include her children, Jim Brown and wife, Sharon, and Bob Brown and wife, Jana; grandchildren, Chris Brown, Jeff Brown and wife, Sara, Daniel Brown, Caleb Brown, Taylor Brown and wife, Chelsey, Michaela Brown, Ryan Shelburne and wife, Michelle, Logan Shelburne, and Paden Brown and husband, Keith; seven great grandchildren, Lindsey, Alivia, Hudson, Beckett, Liam, Kaitlyn and Cara; brothers, Gerald Michaelis, Roger Michaelis and wife, Retha, and Gene Michaelis and wife, Beanie; and several beloved nephews and nieces.
The Brown family will host a visitation from 7:00 – 8:30 PM on Friday, October 30, 2020 at the Ulysses Church of Christ, Ulysses, Kansas.
