Sondra L. Wallace, 58, Altus, passed away Friday, February 17, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 23rd at Kincannon Funeral Home with cremation to follow. Funeral and cremation services are under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.
Sondra Lark Maddox was born June 8, 1958 in Dallas County, Texas to Bob and Louise (Tinsley) Maddox. She grew up in Grand Prairie and graduated from Lamar High School. She continued her education at Cameron University in Lawton, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Education. She taught English in the Altus Public School System for 25 years, where she touched many lives. She took pride in her work and was an extremely dedicated teacher.
She loved her family. Her grandkids were the light of her life and she spent as much time with them as she could. She went to sporting events, recitals, birthday parties; she never missed an event as she was such a big part of all of her grandkids’ lives. There were lots of sleepovers. They would make up games together, dance around her living room, bake cookies, stay up late….they made memories--happy memories. Every one of her grandkids loved going to Nini’s house as it was always such a happy time. And every time those grandkids got picked up, they brought home yet another new toy she had bought them.
She loved the holidays. Everyone knew to go to her house for Halloween as it was one of the most decorated houses in this town. Christmases were filled with food and gifts. Birthdays were no different. It didn’t matter how old her kids got, she would still decorate, put candles on the cake, sing “Happy Birthday”, and wrap up tons of gifts. She made a celebration of everything she did. She wanted everyone and everything to be happy; and this was accomplished every time she was around.
She loved her husband. They were married for ten years and they had a marriage full of joy and happiness. One of their favorite places to go was San Francisco. They loved it so much that they got married there right on the coast of the Pacific Ocean. Just the two of them on a cliff….it was perfect. She loved everyone she encountered. She loved God. She loved her kids. She loved her husband. She loved her grandkids. She loved her family. She loved her job. She loved with all of her heart and will be missed by many.
Sondra was preceded in death by her mother. She is survived by her husband, Larry Wallace; daughter, Casey Podoll and husband, Mike; son, Clay Conrad; stepchildren Patrick, Andrea, and Jimmy Wallace; father, Bob Maddox and stepmother, Kay; sister Janice Henry and husband, Jack; step-sisters Becky Ellis and Missy Wilcox and husband, Marc; four nieces and one nephew; five grandchildren, Devin, Dylan, Hudson, Hadley and Adelyn.
