Sonia Charlene Cargal, longtime resident of Blair, Oklahoma, passed away on Monday, June 3, 2024, in Mangum. A Memorial Service is scheduled for 10:00 AM on Saturday, June 8th, in the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Rev. Doug Altom officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the care of Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
Sonia Charlene Vaughn was born on July 27, 1939, in Mangum to Emory Vaughn and Elizabeth Matthews. After graduating high school at Blair Sonia worked as a bookkeeper for the Davis Cotton Gin and the Farmers Co-Op Gin, both of Blair. Sonia loved cooking and canning. During livestock shows and baseball season she was a team follower, carrying the water jugs, snacks, and first aid kit just in case the boys had an accident. She considered all the boys on the team as her boys and most of them called her Mom. Sonia was a member of the First Baptist Church of Blair. Her infectious smile will be missed by all.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Emory and Elizabeth. Those left to carry on Sonia’s memory are her two ornery boys, Phil Cargal and Shawn Cargal, and wife Bonnie; grandchildren, Jenny Cain, Jessica Cain, Denny Cargal and wife, Amie, Zebulon Cargal, and Caitee Cargal, and Triston Graham; siblings, Billy Vaughn and wife, Pat, Danny Vaughn and wife, Lynda, and Glenda Black; numerous great grandchildren; and an abundance of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
