Sue was born on November 5, 1935 to Austin F. and Ellen J. (Cole) Waldroop in Friendship, OK. She grew up on the family farm near the Navajo Mountains. She played basketball in high school. Sue married Marlan Booker in 1953. They had a beautiful daughter, Suzette. She then married William R. Lewis on October 4, 1957 in Altus, OK. They met after Bill got out of the service. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. They had two children, Gina and Ray.

Sue and Bill moved to Colorado in 1958. Sue worked in banking all her career. She retired as Senior Vice President and Cashier at First National Bank in Las Animas, CO. Bill worked for and retired from the Colorado Department of Transportation. They had dear friends who they played cards with and went out dancing and bowling. They loved to play golf. Sue loved crafting, cooking and watching basketball. Bill loved being outside and fixing anything. He loved going for coffee with the guys. When the grandkids came along, they loved spending time with them.

They are survived by daughters, Suzette (Steve) Eck of Mangum, OK and Gina (Terry) Lewis of Seymour, MO; son, Ray (Debbie) Lewis of Las Animas, CO; Sue’s brother, Austin Waldroop of Altus; Bill’s brother, Jim Lewis of Topeka, KS; four grandchildren, Chris (Amber) Weir of Fowler, CO, Dax Moser of Anadarko, OK, Eric (Audrey) Trujillo of Weaubleau, MO, Ryan Trujillo of Dunedin, FL; ten great grandchildren; four great-great grandsons; and nieces and nephews.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Austin and Ellen Waldroop. Her sister, Caroll Robbins passed away in 2022. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Mary Lewis; wife, Sue; and brothers, Kenny, Bob, and Cliff.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 25, 2023, in the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Daniel Ingram officiating.
