Susan Cherryl Payne, 67, Altus, passed away on Friday, May 19, 2017 at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, May 24, 2017 in the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Rev. Robert Bostic officiating. Burial will follow in the Olustee Cemetery under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
Susan Cherryl Hestand was born on June 26, 1949 in Altus, Oklahoma to Billy Dean and Norma Lee (Osborne) Hestand. She married Connie L. Payne in Olustee, Oklahoma on July 8, 1983. Susan worked as the school librarian at Roosevelt Elementary for 27 years, retiring in 2015. She was the biggest Oklahoma City Thunder fan. She enjoyed books, fishing with family, her plants and the outdoors.
Her father, Billy Dean Hestand, mother and stepfather, Norma Lee and Paul Drury, and a nephew, Kellen Drury, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Connie, of the home; a daughter, Tiffany Willis and husband, Brian; a son, Brad Patterson and wife, Jaclyn; 13 grandchildren, Brianna Escobedo and husband, Jose, Zack Willis and wife, Tabitha, and Erik, Brandi and Mariah Willis, Hailey Bohnstedt, Jordan, Avery, Keagan and Ian Reuter, and Amber, Ashlee and Weston Patterson; a great granddaughter, Mia Escobedo, and another one on the way; five siblings, Pam Harris and husband, Frank, Dean Groves and husband, Lonnie, Mike Drury and wife, LeAnn, Paula Jordan and husband, Gary, and Terry Drury; and many other family and friends including a special cousin, Denice Sadler and husband, Tommy.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
