Terence Jamahl “TJ” Allen passed away unexpectedly on July 2, 2024, in Altus, Oklahoma. He was 35 years of age. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for 2:00 PM on Thursday, August 1st, in the Kincannon Memorial Chapel. TJ’s favorite colors were blue, red, and yellow. Attendees are encouraged to wear one of your choice to honor TJ. The Repass will be held at 509 Mercury Street in Altus beginning at 4:00 PM.
TJ was born on May 17, 1989, on Altus Air Force Base in Oklahoma to Sheldon Allen-Lightfoot and Yolanda Bennett. Most of his childhood years were spent in Altus. He was a proud Bulldog and a 2007 graduate of Altus High School just as his mother and uncle, David, Jr. were. TJ also was an active member of the JROTC. He attended college at Western Oklahoma State College. When he wasn’t in Altus TJ was living abroad with his mom in places such as Germany, Fort Lewis Washington, Fort Hood Texas, and Fort Gordon Georgia while she served in the United States Army.
TJ worked at Bar-S Foods, Co., and held various positions in food service both in Altus and Georgia. When he was not at work, his time would be spent playing numerous video games, but his favorites were Dragon Ball Z and Final Fantasy VII. TJ could engage in conversation for hours on almost every game he played. The excitement displayed by him getting into character and doing his own animations would make whomever he was talking with just as excited as he was by listening to him.
He enjoyed cooking, spending time with his children, brothers, sisters, and friends. Even though pizza was his food of choice, the list of favorites includes mac-n-cheese and chicken and dumplings. But the one dish he would not pass up was his Grandma Bee’s lasagna.
Both of TJ’s grandmothers, Valerie Ann Bennett and Emma Allen preceded him in death.
Those left to remember TJ include his parents, Sheldon and Yolanda; children, Kayden Allen and Nella Allen; brother, Dionte Lightfoot-Owens; sisters, Sapphire Lightfoot, Aneicia Aluinn, and Jaylyne Swanson; grandfather, David Ellis Bennett, Sr.; cousins, Jay, Rochelle, and Alexius; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and other cousins.
