Teresa Bernal, 70, Altus, passed away on Friday, June 6, 2014 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Thursday, June 12, 2014 in the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Pastor Heath Tucker officiating. Burial will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home. Teresa Bernal was born on January 3, 1944 in Artesia Wells, Texas to Pedro and Eulalia (Rodriguez) Bernal. At ten years of age, she dropped out of school and worked the Texas fields to help her father support his family of six. At 21, she married her first husband, Juan F. Martinez, Jr., and they had three children. In 1980, she met her fourth child’s father, Roberto Estrada, and they remained together until her death. Teresa was a member of the Sagrado Corazon de Jesus in Cotulla, Texas. She enjoyed dancing, sewing and reading her bible. She was a great mother and grandmother. Her parents, a sister, Adela Campos, a grandson, Cristobal Olascoaga, and a cousin like a brother, Guadalupe Bernal, preceded her in death. Survivors include her husband, Roberto Estrada, of the home; three daughters, JoAnn Nataren and husband, Jose, and Janet Smith and husband, Billy, all of Fort Worth, TX, and Lorena Hernandez and husband, Juan, of Altus, OK; a son, Juan A. Martinez and wife, Sylvia, of Sentinel, OK; 13 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; a brother, Francisco Bernal and wife, Maria, of Cotulla, TX; and numerous other family and friends. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Additional parking for the service is available behind the funeral home, Best Western to the South or Western Sizzlin’ to the North.
