Theodore Charles “Phoenix” August, Jr., 64, Altus, passed away Tuesday morning, September 13, 2011 at his home. Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 PM, Thursday, September 15, 2011 at the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Tina Manglona. Inurnment will take place at a later date in the Evergreen Cemetery in Los Angeles, California. Services are under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home. Theodore Charles August, Jr. was born on May 12, 1947 in Los Angeles, California to Theodore Charles and Wanda Mae (Robinson) August, Sr. He served his country in the United States Air Force from 1965 until he retired in 1985. He married Laura Rosales on April 8, 2008 in Vernon, Texas. He was a member of the Air Force Orientation Group (AFOG) and attended Glad Tidings Assembly of God and the First Assembly of God in Altus. He was well known for helping others and he loved children. Theodore was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. His parents and a daughter, Gloria Jean August, preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Laura, of the home; three daughters, Sylvia Mae Gale of Duke, OK, Tracy Lee Holmberg of Virginia Beach, VA, and Tina Louise Manglona of Altus, OK; four stepsons, Luis Hernandez and wife, Lidia, of Laredo, TX, Freddy Hernandez and wife, Yehemi, of Lewisville, TX, Albert Hernandez and girlfriend, Elizabeth, of Lewisville, TX, and Angel Hernandez and girlfriend, Christi, of Altus, OK; eight grandchildren, Trinity, Fidel Jr., Franklin, Ashley, Cynthia, Dylan, Lesly and Destiny; two grandchildren to come, Ayden and Alicen Mae; two sisters, Wanda Lee August of Klamath Falls, OR and Arlene Louise August of Spring River, OR; and a stepsister, Teri Rose of Sparks, NV. The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 8:00 PM Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at the funeral home.
