Thomas C. Swackhamer, 73, Headrick, went to be with his Lord on April 13, 2012. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Rev. Richard Fernandez officiating. Burial will follow with Masonic Rites and Military Honors in the Altus City Cemetery Veterans Section under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home. Thomas was born on April 19, 1938 in Morristown, New Jersey to Ralph and Victoria (Evans) Swackhamer. He joined the US Air Force and served 31 years and retired as a Chief Master Sergeant. He received numerous medals including the National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with one Bronze Service Star, Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Good Conduct Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, and the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award. He worked for civil service at Altus Air Force Base as a Ground Safety Manager and retired after 12 years. He earned his Master’s Degree while in the Air Force. He married Alice Fernandez in Altus, Oklahoma on September 17, 1993. Thomas was a longtime member of the Headrick First Baptist Church and farmed for several years in the Headrick community. He enjoyed playing racquetball, hunting, fishing and skeet shooting. His parents preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Alice, of the home; three sons, Mike and Mark Swackhamer, both of Florida, and Keith Swackhamer of Tucson, Arizona; two stepdaughters, Tammy Smith and Nina Walker Flores, both of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; several grandchildren including Justin, Dustin, Dylan, Devin, Sierra and Nina; a sister, Nancy Willart of New Jersey; and many other family and friends. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Monday at the funeral home.
